We are looking for an experienced engineer to take technical ownership of our platform and help lead the next phase of our growth. This is a hands-on role with real influence. You will sit at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, security and delivery, shaping how our systems are built, deployed and operated.
You will work closely with:
- Our in-house development team
- Data engineers and data scientists
- Aviation subject matter experts
- Project managers and client stakeholders
You will also play a key role in translating operational aviation requirements into scalable, secure and high-performing software systems. We currently operate in Microsoft Azure and are deployed into regulated, operational airport environments.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Platform ownership & architecture
- Own the technical architecture of our cloud platform
- Design scalable, resilient and secure systems in Azure
- Improve application structure, performance and reliability
- Lead architectural decisions for new products and modules
- Support API design, integrations and data flows
- Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- Implement infrastructure-as-code and automation
- Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and observability
- Own backup, disaster recovery and availability strategy
- Own the platform security posture
- Maintain ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials technical controls
- Implement secure development best practice (OWASP, IAM, encryption, secrets management)
- Support vulnerability management, patching and audits
- Introduce and enforce coding standards and best practices
- Lead code reviews and architectural reviews
- Improve testing, QA and release confidence
- Improve documentation and system visibility
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency
- Act as technical lead on new projects
- Mentor and support other engineers
- Shape technical roadmaps aligned to business goals
- Contribute to hiring and team growth
- Support client-facing technical discussions when needed
Skills & Experience:
We are looking for an experienced engineer who enjoys ownership, problem-solving and building robust systems that run in real-world operational environments.
Essential experience
- Strong backend engineering background (Python and/or PHP)
- SQL (inc PostgreSQL) and data-driven systems
- Linux production environments
- Cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred)
- Designing and operating production systems

- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Azure DevOps or similar)
- Infrastructure as Code (ARM)
