Who We Are: Wise Productions is an employee-owned creative events production company based in London, with a talented team of over 55 Co-Owners. With a longstanding commitment to innovation, excellence, and a client-centric approach, we pride ourselves on delivering unforgettable event experiences in the UK’s most beautiful venues. Our core values—enthusiasm, dependability, collaboration, and a client-first mentality—are at the heart of everything we do. Our recruitment process is designed to identify candidates who genuinely share these values.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and technically expert Senior Technical Project Manager with a strong video background to lead the design, planning, and delivery of high-profile, content-led events in some of the UK’s most prestigious venues. As part of a team of Technical Project Managers, you’ll act as the go-to specialist for video solutions — providing leadership, guidance, and technical assurance on projects requiring advanced video system design. This includes LED screens, projection, camera workflows, media servers, switching systems, scalable IP-based video infrastructure, signal distribution, and content playback workflows. While video will be a significant focus of the role, you will also work across all core technical disciplines — lighting, audio, staging, rigging, and power — ensuring cohesive system integration.

Some projects will require you to take a broader cross-discipline technical project management role, while others will involve collaborating with team members who lead on different technical specialisms to deliver unified and well-considered solutions. You will be responsible for taking technically ambitious projects from concept to delivery: developing system designs, redundancy strategies, content workflows, technical documentation, budget alignment, and overseeing on-site video delivery from installation through to live operation and show control. Many projects involve architecturally sensitive or logistically complex environments, requiring meticulous planning, risk assessment, and creative problem-solving.

On major Tier 2 and Tier 3 projects, you will collaborate closely with a Production Director or Production Manager, while retaining ownership of technical design, integration strategy, and on-site technical leadership. You’ll represent Wise Productions with authority in client and venue discussions, help develop and mentor colleagues in video-related skills, and contribute to the continued evolution of our technical offering — ensuring our video capability keeps pace with client expectations and industry innovation.

What Makes Us Unique:

  • Experience: With a legacy of excellence and a trusted reputation, we bring deep knowledge and proven expertise to every event.
  • Partnership: We make the process seamless, offering a single responsive point of contact and acting with professionalism at every step.
  • Creativity: Our creativity is strategic as well as stylish—offering fresh ideas, bespoke solutions, and distinctive flair for every brief.

Role Key Accountabilities:

  • Leadership, Management & Accountability: Lead and line-manage internal team members and, when required, freelance technical production managers, overseeing their project planning and on-site delivery. Set clear direction, allocate workloads, monitor deadlines, and ensure milestones are met. Act as the primary point of accountability, resolving issues quickly and driving high performance.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as a senior technical contact for clients, venues, and stakeholders—offering clear, assured advice and maintaining excellent communication and service levels across complex projects.
  • Advanced Technical Design & Integration: Lead the technical design process — with a particular emphasis on robust, scalable video solutions, including media workflows, video networking, LED/projection deployment and camera systems — while producing detailed drawings and specifications that integrate lighting, audio, rigging, staging and power into cohesive and achievable delivery plans.
  • Venue Assessment & Technical Scoping: Conduct in-depth site assessments—particularly in new or logistically challenging venues to identify infrastructure needs, constraints, and opportunities. Shape feasible, safe technical solutions tailored to each location.
  • Project Collaboration: For larger Tier 2 and Tier 3 projects, collaborate closely with the assigned Production Director or Production Manager, supporting their leadership on crewing, scheduling, and H&S while maintaining accountability for all technical elements.
  • On-Site Technical Management: Lead the technical delivery during install, live, and de-rig phases—acting as the senior on-site technical authority. Troubleshoot issues, ensure safe working practices, and uphold Wise’s delivery standards.
  • H&S & Compliance (Technical Scope): Support the development of RAMS and CDM documentation in collaboration with the Production lead. Ensure that all technical elements are safe, compliant, and in line with venue protocols and industry regulations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical development on complex project briefs from concept through to delivery.
  • Provide confident, senior-level technical consultancy to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct detailed venue assessments, especially for new or complex spaces, to determine technical infrastructure and delivery feasibility.
  • Develop and validate video system schematics, signal flow diagrams and redundancy strategies for content-driven or broadcast-style event formats.
  • Oversee video-focused testing, content checks and pre-production workflows to ensure seamless playback and live delivery.
  • Identify when specialist technical expertise is required and engage appropriate freelance expertise, subcontractors, or internal specialists to support particularly complex elements of a project.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive CAD drawings (Vectorworks), kit lists, and supporting technical documentation for integrated systems covering lighting, audio, video, staging, rigging, and power.
  • For larger Tier 2/3 projects, collaborate closely with the Production Director or Production Manager—supporting their lead on supplier coordination, crewing, and H&S, while focusing on technical delivery.
  • Liaise with our partner equipment supplier to prioritise in-house kit and identify sub-hire needs early.
  • Keep project management systems updated with accurate technical detail to support internal visibility and planning.
  • Brief crew and subcontractors on technical delivery requirements and supervise performance during build, show, and strike.
  • Resolve technical issues swiftly and calmly in a live environment, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Ensure Wise Productions’ sustainability practices and standards are reflected in technical planning and onsite delivery.
  • Take part in project debriefs and contribute feedback to help improve future technical planning and execution.
  • Oversee the workflow of your direct reports, providing clear priorities, tracking progress against deadlines, and stepping in to remove blockers.
  • Maintain close communication with your team members to ensure clarity, resolve issues in real time, and keep delivery on track.
  • Conduct quarterly check-ins, annual reviews, and regular 1:1s, completing all line management administration accurately and on time in line with company processes.

Core Competencies:

  • Technical Breadth with Video Depth: Extensive and practical experience across all technical disciplines — with deeper expertise in video systems, including content workflows, LED systems, networking, playback architecture, switching, and camera / IMAG delivery.
  • Content & Media Awareness: Understanding of content delivery methods, format/codec implications, resolution, and client workflows relating to media management.
  • Client Leadership: Skilled at building trust and confidence with senior clients, venue teams, and creative collaborators—able to explain complex solutions clearly and professionally.
  • Complex Project Delivery: Experience delivering large-scale, technically demanding projects from start to finish, including in new or logistically challenging venues.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Works effectively as part of a senior project team—respecting the roles of Production Directors/Managers and supporting overall project delivery.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Strong working knowledge of H&S regulations (including RAMS and CDM) with a focus on safe, compliant technical operations.
  • Mentoring & Support: Willing to share expertise and elevate the capability of the wider technical team.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Logical, clear-thinking, and solutions-driven in fast-paced live environments.
