Wise Owls Childcare is a leading provider of breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs in Maidenhead for children aged 3-14 years. We operate two breakfast clubs and three afterschool clubs. We are looking for a Cook to join our busy and fun Afterschool club in Courthouse Junior School, SL6 5HE. Our main aim as a company is to ensure the children are cared for in a safe, happy, and stimulating environment. We love nothing more than to see the children and staff happy.

The position is 15 hours a week during term time: Monday 2pm-6pm, Tuesday-Thursday 3pm-6pm, Friday 3pm-5pm.
Daily Tasks – Cooking
- To prepare healthy and attractive meals each day following the Club Menu, ensuring enough food for each child attending with minimal wastage.
- To prepare alternative meals for children with allergies or dietary requirements.
- To ensure all labels are checked for allergens before giving children their meal.
- To ensure all hot food provided is temperature checked and above the recommended temperature.
- To check best before dates before cooking and conduct regular stock takes of the food on site.
Daily Tasks - Hygiene, Cleaning
- To wear kitchen whites and a chef hat, ensuring hair is tied back.
- To maintain hygiene standards at all times, ensuring regular hand washing.
- To follow the kitchen cleaning schedule and ensure every area of the kitchen is clean and tidy before and after preparing food.
Paperwork tasks
- To conduct a daily kitchen risk assessment ensuring all areas and electricals are safe to work with.
- To check fridge and freezer temperatures daily and record these at all times.
- To ensure all temperature checks are recorded before each meal is served.
- To follow the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ document at all times and ensure it is thoroughly completed ready for inspection.
- To keep all paperwork organised and concise, which will be checked by Food Hygiene Standards and Management of the company.
- To follow the company’s policies and procedures at all times.
