Client Accounts & Tax Assistant

My lovely client, based in a rural location on the outskirts of Horsham, is looking for an experienced Client Accounts and Tax Assistant to join their team. Working as part of a team of 7, they are a friendly group that strives to work hard, maintain a happy and productive environment, and provide exemplary service to their many clients—many of whom have been with them for years.

Purpose:

To deliver comprehensive accounting and tax services, including statutory accounts, tax returns, and VAT compliance, while fostering strong client relationships and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with clients and develop excellent working relationships.
  2. Prepare accounts and taxable profits computations for sole traders and partnerships.
  3. Prepare statutory accounts and tax returns for limited companies and LLPs.
  4. Handle Self-Assessment tax returns for private clients, business, and property owners.
  5. Ensure VAT compliance and prepare VAT returns.
  6. Compute reserves and handle dividend distributions.
  7. Manage company minutes, resolutions, forms, and returns (e.g., confirmation statement).
  8. Perform bookkeeping duties.

Person Specification

Knowledge:

  1. UK GAAP, FRS105, and FRS102 (s1A).
  2. Income tax for individuals and unincorporated businesses.
  3. Corporation tax for small and micro entities.
  4. VAT compliance for UK businesses.
  5. Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.

Skills and Attributes:

  1. Share knowledge and experience; collaborate and communicate effectively.

  3. Technologically proficient, including Xero, QBO, Sage, MS Office applications, and workflow/document management systems.
