Are you an experienced accountant looking for your next step within a growing accountancy practice?
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join a modern, growing accountancy practice based in South Wales.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys working closely with clients, taking ownership of their accounts and providing advice that goes beyond simply ticking the compliance boxes.
Please note: applicants MUST have previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice. This is an essential requirement for the role.
About the Role
As Senior Accountant, you’ll manage your own portfolio of clients, working with a varied range of owner-managed businesses across different sectors.
You’ll take responsibility for delivering accounts, tax and advisory services while building strong, long-term relationships with your clients.
The practice has a particularly strong client base within the legal sector, alongside clients from a variety of other industries.
You’ll also have the opportunity to review work produced by junior team members, provide guidance and support, and play an important role in the continued growth of the practice.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing a portfolio of limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
- Preparing corporation tax returns and supporting personal tax compliance
- Reviewing bookkeeping records and VAT returns
- Preparing management accounts and providing meaningful financial analysis
- Identifying tax planning and business improvement opportunities
- Meeting with clients to discuss their accounts, financial performance and future plans
- Developing strong, long-term client relationships
- Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing coaching and support
- Managing your workload effectively and ensuring deadlines are met
- Keeping up to date with changes in accounting, tax and company legislation
- What We’re Looking For
Essential
- 3+ years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or qualified by experience
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts, corporation tax and VAT
- Experience managing a portfolio of external clients
- Confident communicating with clients and building trusted relationships
- Commercially aware with an ability to identify opportunities to add value
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Able to take ownership of your workload and deliver to deadlines
- Comfortable reviewing work and supporting more junior colleagues
- A positive, professional approach with a genuine commitment to client service
- Software Experience
- Experience with the following would be advantageous: Xero
- Dext
- Tax Calc
- FYI
- Microsoft 365, including Excel, Outlook and Teams
- Experience with other cloud-based accounting systems would also be welcomed.
