Wise May are looking for a Billing Assistant to join a City law firm. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous billing experience to join a supportive finance team and play a key role in the billing process. Reporting into the Revenue Controller, this role will focus on supporting the full billing cycle, working closely with fee earners and ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently. This is a full time, permanent position, with the hours of 09:00–17:30 and hybrid working (2 days per week in the office).

Billing Assistant duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing draft bills for fee earners in line with client agreements and billing guidelines
  • Producing clear and accurate billing narratives
  • Checking bills for accuracy, completeness and compliance before issuing
  • Processing amendments and finalising invoices for clients
  • Managing disbursements including VAT and ensuring accuracy
  • Submitting invoices via e-billing systems and client portals
  • Maintaining accurate billing records and supporting reporting
  • Supporting month-end billing and revenue processes
  • Liaising with fee earners and internal stakeholders to resolve billing queries

Billing Assistant key skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience within a billing or accounts role within legal or professional services
  • Strong understanding of billing processes including invoicing and disbursements
  • High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and financial systems
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
