Wise Employment are looking for an experienced and proactive Estates Services Supervisor for a permanent role to oversee the day-to-day delivery of caretaking, grounds maintenance and estate services across communities. This is a key operational role, responsible for supervising in-house teams and contractors to ensure communal areas are safe, clean, compliant and maintained to a high standard. You will play a vital part in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Line manage, motivate and develop Estate Caretakers, Grounds Maintenance and Voids teams, including performance reviews, PDPs and training needs
- Carry out regular estate inspections and audits, identifying improvements, health & safety risks and maintenance needs
- Ensure communal areas (internal and external) meet required safety, cleanliness and compliance standards
- Manage contractor performance, service level agreements and value for money
- Oversee waste management, recycling, fly tipping, CCTV and door entry systems
- Support budget management, raise orders, process invoices and monitor costs
- Manage tree inspections and liaise with local authorities and tree contractors
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation including COSHH, fire safety, asbestos and risk assessments
- Maintain accurate records, inspections, reports and compliance documentation
- Liaise professionally with tenants, residents, leaseholders, councils and partner organisations
- Support staff wellbeing through coaching, mentoring and mental health awareness
Essential:
- Proven experience supervising caretaking, grounds maintenance or estate services teams
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Experience managing contractors and service delivery standards
- Ability to work within budgets and monitor costs
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
- IT literate (Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint or willingness to learn)
- Enhanced DBS Adult work force on the update service. (Or happy to complete a DBS check immediately).
- Full UK Driving Licence and own transport.
Desirable:
- Experience working within social housing
- Knowledge of the local Devon area
- Experience working with local authorities or government bodies
- CMI First Line Management Level 3 or equivalent
- Risk assessment or contractor management qualifications
