Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world's money. We’re building a new Account Insights team on a simple belief: when customers can see their money clearly, they manage it smarter and move more of their financial life to Wise. You’ll help turn millions of transactions into fast, trustworthy, genuinely useful insights that customers act on. Account Insights is an early-stage, growing team spanning backend, mobile, and web, with product and design partners. You’ll join senior engineers with real ownership over what we build and a direct hand in shaping the roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Owning and building system components behind customer-facing insights features that help people understand and take control of their spending.
- Helping shape the roadmap and delivering large projects end-to-end.
- Driving incident response and owning short and long term mitigation steps.
- Raising the bar across the team: writing high-quality tests and clear documentation, reviewing code, and mentoring, onboarding, and coaching engineers.
What do you need?
- Have owned a large, impactful backend project end-to-end — from technical design to production — and are comfortable being accountable for their reliability, availability, and security.
- Deep backend fundamentals and strong proficiency in your primary language (we work mainly in Java/Spring Boot), plus a solid grasp of distributed-systems concepts like asynchronous communication and event streaming.
- Written well-tested, high-quality code, designed systems with a long-term view so they’re easy to scale and iterate on, and actively improve what’s around you.
- Mentored and coached other engineers, given and received feedback openly, and helped build a collaborative, inclusive team.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of Kafka, stream processing, or high-throughput low-latency services.
What do we offer:
- Starting salary: £87,500 - £111,000 + RSUs
