Overview
Localisation Specialist – Arabic. Position based in London, UK. At Wise, we build a global platform to move and manage money. If you love words and want to help people in Arabic‑speaking regions use our product effortlessly, this role may fit you.
Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end localisation of the Wise App and web interface from English to Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), ensuring a natural, professional fintech user experience.
- Localise product, marketing and support content from English to Arabic while maintaining meaning, context and tone, and adapting it to the local language.
- Partner with QA managers, product managers, engineers and UX designers to perform thorough linguistic quality assurance and context testing, ensuring the app mirrors perfectly for RTL layout and readability.
- Proofread and edit translated content for linguistic accuracy and clarity.
- Collaborate with localisation team members to promote synergies between markets and refine tools, workflows or processes.
- Leverage user feedback, app reviews and product data to continuously iterate and improve Arabic content quality.
- Identify, troubleshoot and solve common i18n and layout issues specific to Arabic and RTL languages (e.g., mixed Arabic/English strings, numbers, currencies, dates, names, addresses, and mirrored icons).
- Partner and collaborate with external vendors and freelancers to ensure expectations regarding tone, style and deliverables are clear and consistently met.
- Evaluate and report on vendor quality for a continuous improvement cycle.
- Define and establish Wise’s Arabic voice, balancing modern financial terminology with local cultural sensitivity across all platforms (app, web, marketing and support). Define guidelines for gender representation in the Arabic UI, balancing grammatical constraints with an inclusive, respectful customer experience.
- Act as the primary cultural and linguistic advisor for Wise's expansion into Arabic‑speaking markets, advising marketing, product and engineering teams on regional user perceptions of financial tech, trust parameters and UI design.
- Identify and address growth opportunities with Arabic audiences.
Qualifications
- Native Arabic speaker with deep mastery of contemporary MSA and 2–3 years of localisation experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Familiar with CAT, TMS and/or MT tools and best practices in quality‑management processes and workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality localisation.
- Analytical mind able to express constructive solutions for customers.
- Efficient time management, accustomed to working in a fast‑paced environment with concurrent deadlines.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness to convey cultural nuances accurately.
- Proven experience handling RTL and BiDi text formatting challenges.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Extra desirable skills: experience in transcreating marketing campaigns for Middle Eastern markets, knowledge of regional Arabic dialects, certified translator status, experience working in a global team.
