Job overview
A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Therapy Assistant to work in our Paediatric Therapy Team. The team are located from Clatterbridge Hospital and work in community settings including Special and mainstream schools.
The post holder will have the opportunity to gain experience working across our Paediatric team with school aged children and working within a variety of settings including the Child Development Centre, Mainstream Schools, Special Schools and other community settings.
You will work with children and young people with a wide range of conditions and will be able to work in hydrotherapy pools and group sessions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active person to assist qualified physiotherapists to deliver the paediatric physiotherapy provision to children and young people across the Wirral.
You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently. This post is a community post and a car driver is essential to this post.
You will have professional support for your CPD from your supervisor.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible and accountable for the quality and standard and safety of ownwork and to achieve the levels of competency required by the role.
- To help patients to continue with their treatment programmes and therapeutic activitiesas delegated by a qualified Therapist.
- Have own delegated case load or take on a specific area of work eg hydrotherapy, exercise class,sensory rehab. Can progress patients under agreed parameters.
- To feedback to the Therapist regarding the patient’s progress, or any concerns.
- To ensure that all documentation relating to their clinical involvement with patients(electronic or paper) adheres to AHP and Trust standards.
- To manage their delegated workload effectively, with support and guidance from theTherapist.
- To contribute to the smooth running of the team/unit by carrying out a range of clericaland admin, household and departmental tasks.
- To be responsible for the safe use of equipment that they use during treatment.
- To at all times maintain the principles of confidentiality of patient information.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
- Must have a relevant level 3 NVQ or an equivalent level of experiential knowledge and experience in an appropriate area.
- A minimum of 2 years recent experience in a related health care setting
Knowledge and Skills
- To be computer literate, able to use hospital computer systems and to be able to use data bases for audit following appropriate training
- To have the ability to show initiative and manage own workload, but to seek advice when appropriate
Safeguarding
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all unborn babies, children and adults and is signed up to both the Wirral Safeguarding Children’s Partnership and the Wirral Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board associated policies and procedures. All Trust staff must be familiar with, and adhere to these procedures.
