An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary within the Surgical Division working within the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Arrowe Park site.

The successful candidate will have the AMSPAR qualification or equivalent experience; they should be organised, approachable and happy to help.

Please expect in your interview to undertake a short typing test.

This post is to cover office hours between 09:00 until 17:00. Working hours will be reviewed on appointment. Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing a DBS application is met by the successful applicant/s. DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following starting in post.

If the post you are applying for requires a DBS – Inline with Trust policy the cost of submitting and processing a DBS for successful applications would be met by the individual themselves. The amount would vary depending on the level required: Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation). This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.

UK nationals or other persons with a right of abode have an eligible residency status if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK or the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of the apprenticeship., This interesting and varied role requires the ability to work well on your own initiative whilst being committed to teamwork as you will need to work with others to meet the patients’ needs.

This position also requires good communication skills, the ability to meet the demands of working in a busy environment and is able to represent the department with due professionalism.

You will responsible for implementing and managing systems for the office/team workload, ensuring work is completed within strict timescales.

You will need to exercise your judgement and initiative based on experience and knowledge of arising problems and taking appropriate action to resolve situations, including follow up with investigation results, ensuring that all results are presented to medical staff and subsequently auctioned/filed into patients medical records.

You will have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise your workload and to deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a professional manner.
