Christ Church CE (VA) Primary School is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, highly motivated and enthusiastic Communication and Interaction specialist class teacher to join our dedicated team within our Thrive Resource Provision. About Thrive @ Christ Church: Our Thrive Resource Provision is a calm, inclusive and low-arousal space specifically designed to support children aged 4-11 with identified Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated interaction differences who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Thrive consists of two small classes (Thrive 1 and Thrive 2), each catering to up to 12 children. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate C&I practitioner to teach within a highly specialist, supportive environment and to contribute to a culture where every child is empowered to find their voice and experience life in all its fullness.

What We Are Looking for in our Thrive Communication & Interaction Teacher:

  • Specialist Communication Pedagogy: A talent for creating an exciting, vibrant and total-communication environment where both verbal and non-verbal/AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) users can thrive. You will be skilled in inspiring children through a rich, balanced and highly individualised curriculum.
  • Targeted Adapting & Frameworks: A determination to enable all learners to succeed by expertly implementing specialist communication, language and regulation strategies (such as Attention Autism, Zones of Regulation, Visual Timetables, and Core Vocabulary), ensuring learning remains meaningful and accessible to all.
  • Relational Care: A commitment to nurturing the whole child, with a deep understanding of neurodivergent profiles, sensory processing differences, Gestalt Language Processing (desirable) and championing inclusive excellence by seeing behaviour as communication.
  • Expert Team Leadership: An ability to work effectively, lead and deploy a classroom team of skilled teaching assistants to model communication strategies seamlessly and contribute positively as part of our united school team.
  • Inclusive Advocacy: A willingness to make an active contribution to the broader life of our school, facilitating purposeful mainstream inclusion where appropriate and supporting our deeply rooted culture of belonging.
