We are excited to invite applications for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly, dedicated and inclusive team at Chapelhill Primary School. This is a fixed-term position initially, with a hope to make permanent if future budget allows.

About the Role

This role is based within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision and requires someone with a strong understanding of child development and effective early years practice. As our EYFS HLTA, you will:

  • Work within our EYFS setting to provide high-quality support for teaching and learning
  • Lead learning experiences and provide class cover where appropriate
  • Support children in developing emotional literacy, resilience, independence, social communication and academic progress
  • Set up and enhance high-quality continuous provision, indoors and outdoors
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support children with additional needs, including those with SEND
  • Contribute to an engaging and enabling environment, both indoors and outdoors, that promotes curiosity, exploration and play-based learning
  • Support observation, assessment and planning processes in line with the EYFS Framework
  • Promote and develop early language, communication and vocabulary acquisition
  • Support the delivery of early phonics, literacy and mathematical development
  • Work collaboratively as part of a highly skilled and supportive EYFS team
  • Build positive relationships with children and families to ensure strong home-school partnerships

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

  • Is warm, nurturing, caring and genuinely enjoys working with young children
  • Holds a Level 4 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent HLTA qualification)
  • Has significant experience working within an EYFS environment
  • Demonstrates a secure understanding of the EYFS Framework, child development and effective early years pedagogy
  • Has experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within an Early Years setting
  • Understands the importance of play-based learning, continuous provision and child-initiated learning
  • Has experience of observation, assessment and using evidence to inform next steps in learning
  • Is confident delivering interventions, leading groups and covering whole-class teaching
  • Has experience supporting early communication, language development and early phonics
  • Demonstrates strong classroom practice and positive behaviour support strategies
  • Champions inclusion and has high expectations for all children
  • Communicates effectively with staff, families and external professionals
  • Is reflective, resilient, proactive and brings positivity and humour to the team

Experience managing whole classes and using recognised teaching and learning strategies is essential. Experience within a mainstream primary setting is highly desirable.
