Licensing Enforcement Officer
As a Licensing Enforcement Officer, you will play a key role in protecting the public, supporting businesses, and ensuring compliance with a wide range of licensing legislation, including alcohol, taxis, gambling, street trading, and other licensed activities.
About the Role:
You will undertake inspections, investigate complaints, gather evidence, prepare case files, and take proportionate enforcement action where breaches of legislation are identified. Working closely with licence holders, partner agencies, elected members, and the wider community, you will help to promote public safety, prevent crime and disorder, and maintain high standards across the borough.
About the Candidate:
We are looking for a confident, resilient, and professional individual who can make sound decisions, deal effectively with challenging situations, and communicate clearly with people at all levels. You will have experience in a regulatory, enforcement, investigative, or compliance role, with the ability to gather and assess evidence, interpret legislation and policy, and produce accurate written reports.
This role will suit someone who is organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently, but it is not suitable for applicants seeking a purely office based, administrative, or customer service position, as a significant proportion of the role involves field work, investigations, and enforcement activity.
We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. For this vacancy, candidates must have an existing right to work in the UK before commencing employment. Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is not available for this post. Eligibility to work in the UK will be verified in the final stages of the selection process.
This is not legal advice, and we advise you to seek your own independent legal advice tailored to your own personal circumstances.
If you are a Wirral resident, are unemployed or out of work, and require help with your application, please contact Involve Northwest's employment and skills team on info@involvenorthwest.org.uk or contact 0151 644 4500 or 0151 652 4349.
