This role is established at 1.0 FTE, of which 0.2 FTE is commission funded and will be reviewed annually. Wirral’s Sensory Service is seeking an experienced and passionate Hearing Specialist Coordinator to play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality support to deaf children and young people aged 0–25.
About the Role
Working closely with the Head of Sensory Service, you will help lead and develop the HI Service, combining strategic responsibility with a 75% specialist teaching caseload. You will provide expert advice, assessment and intervention across a range of educational settings, promote inclusive practice, support families and settings, and contribute to service development, training and planning. You will also deputise for the Head of Service when required and support the effective management of staff, resources and pupil provision. Based at Clare Mount Sport College (but not part of) and working peripatetically in settings on the Wirral.
About the Candidate
You will be a qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher of the Deaf status, substantial experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf, and a strong understanding of language development, audiology and assistive hearing technologies. You will be an effective communicator, organised and solution-focused, with the ability to lead, support and inspire others. Experience of team leadership and a commitment to inclusive education and partnership working are essential. Additional skills in British Sign Language or willing to learn is essential.
