Job Purpose / Key Responsibilities
- Carry out formal scheduled teaching at all levels.
- Act as a personal tutor to a group or groups of students.
- Prepare learning materials and students’ assignments.
- Mark students’ work and examinations, moderation and verification.
- Operate as part of a team in monitoring, reviewing and evaluating all aspects of the programme(s).
Skills and Qualifications
- Hold a specialist Level 5 or above ESOL teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, Trinity TESOL, MA TESOL, DELTA or equivalent).
- GCSE or Level 2 English and maths.
- Substantial and successful teaching experience in ESOL/EFL to a range of age groups and levels for different awarding bodies.
- Be up to date with knowledge of the UK ESOL core curriculum.
- Experience teaching ESOL/EFL in varied settings (classroom, employer/work‑based, community).
