We are looking for an English Lecturer to join our team. This is a 35 hours per week, full‑time, permanent role offering a salary of £31,410 to £43,440 per annum.

Job Purpose / Key Responsibilities

As an English Lecturer you will provide engaging and effective instruction to a diverse range of students studying English language from entry level up to GCSE. This encompasses developing and delivering well‑structured lessons that cater to various learning styles, employing a variety of teaching methodologies, and ensuring that all learners grasp fundamental mathematical concepts. Additionally, English lecturers play a crucial role in supporting students’ academic progress by setting achievable goals, providing regular feedback, and assisting with revision and exam preparation.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Teaching qualification (Certificate of Education, PGCE or equivalent).
  • Hold a specialist Level 4/5 English qualification (or from a related discipline e.g. History).
  • Minimum Level 2 Mathematics qualification.
  • Able to evidence successful experience of teaching Functional Skills maths and GCSE English.
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge and practice of effective and inclusive group teaching and learning strategies.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of GCSE English specifications and/or Functional Skills standards.
