We are looking for a Deputy Head of Additional Learning Support to join our team. This is a 35 hours per week, full-time, permanent role offering a salary of £42,176 to £47,469 per annum.

Job Purpose/Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the ALS manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the ALS department across a number of college campuses.
  • To have line management responsibility for the ALS Team members across a number of college campuses.
  • To identify students and apprentices who require Additional Learning Support and ensure support is provided to meet their individual needs, and to remove potential barriers to their success.
  • To support the ALS manager in driving a process of continual improvement in the services the area provides to students, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • To undertake an agreed programme of individual casework, which may include assessment, teaching and review.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate qualification, at or equivalent to level 7, per JCQ regulations for assessing the need for examination access arrangements.
  • Full recognised teaching qualification.
  • Hold or commit to achieving a formal management qualification within two years.
  • Level 2 English and maths.
  • Successful practice in assessing, teaching and supporting learners with learning difficulties/disabilities/or special educational needs.
  • Ability to lead a diverse range of additional learning support services.
