We are looking for a Deputy Head of Employability and Progression to join our team. This is a 35 hours per week, full-time, permanent role offering a salary of £42,176 to £47,469 per annum.

Job Purpose/Key Responsibilities

  • To deputise regularly for the Head of Department.
  • To work with the Head of Department to develop and implement programmes of study across all types of provision that are fit for purpose and lead to sustainable destinations for all students.
  • To support the Head of Department in the design of programmes for all provision types which embrace innovative and best practice teaching approaches to enable the department to achieve the highest standards.
  • To assist in the development of a curriculum that is inclusive and allows the maximum number of students with SEHM/SEND to access our provision.
  • To assist the Head of Department in the implementation of wider college policies and procedures.
  • To support the Head of Department, curriculum team and other managers to develop and implement a range of commercial and business opportunities for the curriculum area.
  • Undertake line management and appraisal of staff within the department in order to ensure the effective course management and administration of a portfolio of programmes within the department.
  • Support the continuous improvement of teaching, learning and assessment within the department, providing developmental observations for teaching staff and appropriate coaching and mentoring support.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Hold or commit to achieving a formal management qualification within three years.
  • Level 2 English and Maths Teaching qualification.
  • Experience of high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment resulting in a positive impact over time.
  • Experience of the use of data to assess and improve both standards and performance.
  • Experience of quality and service standards.
  • Experience of the course review and/or curriculum audit processes.
