About the role: Wirral Council is seeking a Technical Officer to join the Environmental Health Service. This is a varied and rewarding role providing specialist technical support across a range of environmental health disciplines. You will carry out investigations and inspections, providing expert advice to residents and businesses, and take enforcement action where necessary, which will involve gathering evidence, serving legal notices and preparing prosecution files. This role offers the opportunity to specialise in one or more environmental health areas, while developing your skills across the wider service.

About the candidate: The ideal candidate will hold an appropriate qualification in at least one Environmental Health related discipline or have relevant experience and a commitment to working towards a qualification. You will be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills and be confident in interpreting and enforcing legislation. You will be an enthusiastic and a highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who can work independently with minimal supervision to a high level of accuracy.

Eligibility to work in the UK will be verified in the final stages of the selection process.
