Wirral Council is seeking an experienced Procurement professional to lead the Place and Corporate pillars as Head of Procurement. This senior role requires extensive knowledge of Hard and Soft Facilities Management, alongside Corporate Services including ICT, and prior experience operating at Head of Service level.

As Head of Procurement for Place and Corporate, you will lead the strategic and operational delivery of procurement services across key areas, including Facilities Management and Corporate Services. You will oversee a team of professionals, driving effective procurement and contract management practices, ensuring compliance with public sector regulations, and delivering value for money to support wider Council objectives. You will also support the Assistant Director of Procurement and Commercial Services in managing the overall service, contributing to the development of policies and procedures, and representing the function at Board meetings as required. With direct leadership responsibility for the Place and Corporate Procurement pillars, you will provide clear direction, oversight, and support to ensure a high-performing, compliant, and forward-thinking service.

The successful candidate will be an experienced procurement professional with a strong background in the public sector, including sound knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 (PA23). You will bring proven leadership experience, as well as strong commercial acumen, and the ability to deliver both strategic direction and effective operational outcomes. You will be confident managing teams, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, and driving high-quality, compliant procurement services that deliver value for money and support wider organisational objectives.
