We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable individual to join our team in Birkenhead Park, joining our Visitor Services Team in looking after the World’s First Publicly Funded Municipal Park. You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and skilled at communicating, capable of forming strong effective partnerships with a variety of people and being an excellent representative of Birkenhead Park and Wirral Council.

About the Role: You will be responsible for increasing engagement through ranger-led activities across our historic and varied parks in Prenton and Tranmere, along with supporting the work of the existing part-time Ranger at Flaybrick Memorial Gardens and Bidston Hill. Birkenhead's fascinating history means many of the district's parks have important heritage features to promote and protect, combined with substantial potential for protecting our natural environment in this urban area of Wirral. You will support the grounds maintenance teams with site inspections, minor maintenance, and repair works whilst also developing volunteer groups, providing information to and delivering activities with local schools and visitors, supervising volunteers, and carrying out site-based interpretation to promote the heritage and human value of the park. You should have a good understanding of conservation issues related to listed buildings and/or nature and landscapes; good computer skills and experience of running activities with a variety of user groups.

About the Candidate: We would like to hear from you if you have the following knowledge, experience, and qualifications: Qualifications appropriate to the post e.g. countryside management, environmental sciences, recreation. An understanding of and ability to deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Strong communication skills including written, verbal and use of modern and social media. Dealing with members of the public. Working with children/schools. A knowledge and experience of conservation or recreation management. Experience of organising events and activities. Use of modern methods of interpretation i.e. leading walks, giving talks etc. Maths and English level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience. Full Driving Licence.

If successful you will be required to work 50% of weekend days and be flexible in the working availability, with occasional evening and bank holiday working required.
