We are looking for an organised, proactive and highly motivated Member Support Policy Officer to join our Member Support Team. 12-month fixed term contract.

About the Role:

This is a varied and rewarding role that provides direct support to the Leader of the Council in relation to Liverpool City Region matters, whilst also delivering high-quality administrative support to elected Members across the Council. You will play a key role in helping Members effectively carry out their responsibilities and ensuring that democratic processes operate efficiently and effectively.

You will act as a key point of contact for a wide range of stakeholders, coordinate complex administrative activities, manage enquiries and provide research and policy support on Liverpool City Region issues. The role also includes supporting the wider Member Support Team in other duties including the administration of Individual Ward Member Budgets, support to all elected Members, maintaining financial records and monitoring expenditure in line with Council procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to work in a fast-paced, political environment, who can manage competing priorities and wants to contribute to local democracy and public service.

About the Candidate:

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with elected Members, senior officers, external organisations and members of the public. You will be comfortable dealing with confidential and sensitive information and able to always exercise sound judgement and discretion.

You will be an experienced administrator with excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism. You will be confident using Microsoft Office applications and digital systems and have experience of maintaining records, managing administrative processes and supporting financial administration. Strong planning and organisational skills, together with the ability to work independently and use your initiative, are essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of researching and analysing information and producing clear written briefings, reports and correspondence. Knowledge of local government, the role of elected Members and awareness of issues affecting the Liverpool City Region would be advantageous.

If you are someone who is highly organised, adaptable, enjoys working collaboratively and is passionate about supporting elected representatives, we'd love to hear from you.

Additional Information:

This role offers flexible and hybrid working arrangements and requires a willingness to travel across the City Region and work from various locations as required. There may also be occasions when you will be required to work outside normal office hours, including evening meetings, to support the needs of the service.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Steve Fox, Assistant Director Governance and Corporate Support. Email stevefox@wirral.gov.uk
