About the Role: The Finance Systems Team Leader is responsible for leading the delivery of effective and efficient support for the Council’s finance systems, ensuring high standards of service performance, system availability and continuous improvement. The role contributes to the development and implementation of ICT and system strategies, leading on technical projects and engaging with stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into effective system solutions. The post holder manages and develops a specialist team, oversees system configuration, maintenance and enhancement, and acts as a key escalation point for complex issues. In addition, the role involves working closely with Finance colleagues and wider directorates to support reporting, data integrity and decision-making, including the development of robust reporting solutions such as Power BI, while ensuring compliance with corporate standards, information governance and service level expectations.
About the Candidate: We are seeking an experienced, motivated and customer-focused professional to lead the Finance Systems Support team within ICT. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting the Council’s finance systems, ensuring service continuity, performance and continuous improvement across all areas of delivery. The role will involve leading the development and enhancement of system functionality, including automation of processes and implementation of efficient, modern solutions that meet business needs. A strong understanding of finance processes and financial systems is highly desirable for this role. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of core financial operations, data structures and system controls, enabling them to effectively support system users, contribute to system improvements and ensure solutions align with business and statutory requirements. Experience of working with enterprise finance systems and an ability to translate financial requirements into technical solutions will be a distinct advantage. Working collaboratively with Finance colleagues, ICT teams and wider Council services, the post holder will play a key role in translating business requirements into effective system solutions and driving service improvements. The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, provide expert support on complex system issues, and lead a high-performing team is critical. Equally important is the ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative, innovative and solutions-focused team culture.
