The 'Keeping Families Together' team supports our children and families who are at significant risk of becoming accommodated by the LA. They sit within family help and consist of 6 staff and a team leader. A 12 month fixed term contract leading this team has become available.

About the role: You will be leading a team of highly skilled Family workers who support our children and young people and their families at level 3/4 on the continuum of need. Providing high quality supervision to ensure appropriate interventions are delivered, having good management oversight of cases and being able to coach/guide staff as they work alongside families is a key aspect of the role.

About the candidate: We would like to hear from you if you have excellent safeguarding knowledge and understand how to assess risk. Be a good team player with the ability to implement support as well as challenge around practice and thinking when necessary. The successful candidate will have previous experience of supervising staff supporting very complex family dynamics, be able to provide case supervision and management direction to staff and feel confident regularly using reflective practice as a way to understand lack of progress, share hypotheses and generate ideas with colleagues about what else may support sustained, positive change. Working in a multi agency way, being child and family led and providing consultative interventions to social care colleagues is also an important part of this role. You must be able to deal with and manage change, as this team is still developing and needs to respond quickly to changing demand. Above all else, you must be a person who believes wholeheartedly in the capacity to change, the importance of children remaining within their family and be adept at challenging thinking and practice where necessary.
