Fixed Term Contract – 6 months

About the role:

We’re looking for a proactive Deputy Market Manager to support the day-to-day running of Birkenhead Market and associated markets across the Borough. This is a hands-on operational role supporting market operations, trader engagement, events, compliance, staff supervision, and facilities management. You’ll support the Market Manager and take responsibility for the service in their absence, helping ensure the market operates safely, effectively, and commercially. If you enjoy problem-solving, working with people, and managing a busy operational environment, this could be a great opportunity.

About the candidate:

We’re looking for someone with experience in a retail, commercial, hospitality, events, or a market environment. You’ll need strong organisational and communication skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and experience supporting operational services in a customer-focused setting. Experience working within a market or trading environment, along with knowledge of health and safety or compliance processes, would be an advantage. This is a great opportunity to play an important role in the ongoing operation and development of Birkenhead Market and surrounding events programme.
