An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join the Children’s Finance Team on a 9-month secondment. This post will provide wide-ranging financial support across all aspects of the team supporting the Children, Family & Education Directorate. The successful candidate will support budget holders by providing timely and accurate financial analysis to enable informed decision-making to support the achievement of their objectives.

The focus of the role is to support the day-to-day administrative and transactional aspects of finance, running reports and collating data in spreadsheets to produce clear monitoring papers. The post will also assist the SFBP and FBP in developing management reporting and budget monitoring processes, with an emphasis on improving the quality of financial information, systems, and reports.

The successful applicant will be passionate about improving public sector services. They will be a team player and strong communicator, as the role involves liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. They will be confident working with spreadsheets and financial systems with a willingness to learn new processes. Knowledge of Oracle Fusion and Liquid Logic/Controcc would be an advantage.
