Senior Manager – Waste and Environmental Services
About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity here at Wirral for a highly experienced and motivated senior waste management professional, to lead the establishment of the new Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing Contract and arrangements. This will involve career defining responsibilities and deliverables; including contract award and mobilisation, leading the delivery of a new refuse collection system and service transformation, recruiting a bespoke team to deliver a behaviour change programme to transform recycling, re-use, and upcycling performance across Wirral.
The Senior Manager will represent Wirral on the Liverpool City Region Waste Management Partnership to support the coordination of the City Region\’s waste management & treatment arrangements. The Senior Manager will also lead the management of street cleansing services across the borough and be a key consultee on the design and servicing requirements of the significant regeneration and public realm programmes that are transforming Wirral.
About the candidate:
We are looking for a manager who is experienced in community engagement and keen to work residents to involve them in the design of services and increase participation in environmental enhancement.
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Climate Emergency and Environment, the successful candidate will be a member of the portfolio\’s senior management team to provide joint leadership and strategic direction for Wirral\’s environmental services.
You will work closely with the Council\’s Members, at both senior and ward levels, to manage services and experience of management large and complex partnerships is essential. You will have experience of managing large environmentally related service contracts and partnerships, also delivering large change management programmes.
