We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Officer (Fleet Management) to join the team on a permanent basis.
About The Role
As the Principal Officer (Fleet Management) for Wirral Council’s Fleet, you will ensure the efficient and effective management of the Service, including being the named Transport Manager on Wirral Council\’s Operator\’s licence. You will contribute to the development and implementation of the Council\’s Green Fleet (Fleet Replacement) Strategy.
This is a key post for the service, you will be responsible for the management (including compliance and HR functions) of Wirral Council\’s Fleet Management Service and depot and will manage 3 direct reports and a staff group of approximately 8 staff, including administrators, a Team Leader and Workshop Fitters.
You will be responsible for the programming of vehicle maintenance ensuring compliance with Transport and Health and Safety legislation. You will also be responsible for the computerised fleet maintenance system (e.g.: MOT, Tax and service histories) and other records including drivers\’ records and act as the first point of contact in relation to transport enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
About The Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team and lead on the provision of a forward thinking and efficient Fleet Management Service. You will need to demonstrate experience of leadership, service development, and knowledge of operational delivery of Fleet maintenance and transport services.
You will hold be a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) (Module 1 and Module 2) allowing you to be the named Transport Manager on Wirral Council\’s Operator\’s licence, which gives the holder ultimate responsibility of fleet operations within the Authority, where compliance is of paramount importance.
You will be a resilient, tenacious, and an experienced manager working on and delivering projects that improve outcomes for both residents and the Council. You will have experience of managing and developing people to deliver exceptional services within either a local authority or private sector setting and a proven track record of managing and reporting service performance and financial management.
