Local Taxation & Assessment Processing Officer – Housing Benefits – Level 2 & 3.

About The Role

The Revenues and Benefits Service has an exciting opportunity to recruit several Local Taxation, Assessment, and Processing Officers at level 2 and level 3. The service is responsible for the administration, assessments and transactional processes in relation to Housing Benefit ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals, able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to interpret legislation to make decisions and utilise IT systems to accurately record information is essential as is the ability to work at pace.

Level 2 and Level 3 Duties

  • Calculate, record and process assessments for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance
  • Analyse and assess data / information to determine outcomes in relation to entitlement to benefits including changes in entitlement
  • Deal with inbound and outbound contact with customers via telephone, email or letter
  • Work to well defined standard business processes to analyse information and perform more complex tasks
  • Be proactive in contributing to the achievement of statistical and qualitative performance targets
  • Assist in the development of the service

For Level 3 positions, proven experience of relevant legislation, working procedures and technical knowledge in respect of Housing Benefit and/or Welfare Benefits is desirable however individuals able to demonstrate good problem solving and decision-making skills, with suitable transferable skills are encouraged to apply.

Additional Level 3 duties

  • Analyse and assess data / information to determine outcomes in relation to entitlement to benefits including changes and more complex processes
  • Ability to undertake visits as required.
