Wirral Council is looking for a highly organised, proactive and customer‑focused Fleet Business Support Officer to join our Fleet Management Service. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring Wirral Council’s fleet operates safely, efficiently and fully compliant with all statutory and Operator Licence requirements. In this dynamic role, you will support day‑to‑day operations, keep systems running smoothly, coordinate essential vehicle compliance activity and provide exceptional service to colleagues, suppliers and regulatory partners.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Keeping the fleet safe and compliant by coordinating servicing, MOTs and inspections
- Maintaining accurate, audit‑ready records across multiple digital systems
- Supporting procurement activities and processing financial transactions
- Managing key compliance platforms including driver licence checks, tracking, defects and fuel monitoring
- Preparing reports and dashboards that help meet regulatory obligations
- Being a friendly and professional first point of contact for internal teams and suppliers
- Supporting continuous improvement and helping shape how the service evolves
About the Candidate
- Strong administrative, organisational and IT skills with accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
- Experience in business support, finance, admin or a fast‑paced operational environment with excellent communication and a customer‑focused mindset
- Experience in transport, fleet management or regulatory environments is helpful (but not essential) and training can be provided if you display the right skills, enthusiasm and commitment
