Library Information Assistant β Casual
Wirral Council is looking for enthusiastic casual Library Information Assistants passionate about reading, library services, and their communities. The role is part of an initiative to be at the heart of change and improvement, helping deliver the best outcomes for residents.
About The Role
You will support a programme of activities and library events, proactively helping people of all ages and from all backgrounds. As the first point of contact, you will assist with information and advice on council and partner services, help customers log on to the library WiβFi, download eBooks, and lead events such as Baby Rhyme Time sessions for parents and babies. The variety of tasks means no two days are the same, requiring initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Core opening times: 9:00β5:00 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
- 9:00β7:00 Tuesday and Thursday
The role is physically active β carrying books, pushing trolleys, lifting boxes, and being on your feet for long periods of time.
Shifts are determined by service need, with no fixed hours. They are managed via the staff management system, Staff Savvy, and the role is offered on a casual basis.

They should be able to adapt to change, work collaboratively, and maintain a positive attitude while working independently.
