About the Role
Working closely with the Head of Sensory Service, you will help lead and develop the HI Service, combining strategic responsibility with a 75% specialist teaching caseload. You will provide expert advice, assessment and intervention across a range of educational settings, promote inclusive practice, support families and settings, and contribute to service development, training and planning. You will also deputise for the Head of Service when required and support the effective management of staff, resources and pupil provision. Based at Clare Mount Sport College (but not part of) and working peripathetically in settings on the Wirral.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the HI Service alongside the Head of Sensory Service.
- Provide expert advice, assessment and intervention across a range of educational settings.
- Promote inclusive practice and support families and settings.
- Contribute to service development, training and planning.
- Deputise for the Head of Service when required.
- Support effective management of staff, resources and pupil provision.
Qualifications
- Qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher of the Deaf status.
- Substantial experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf.
- Strong understanding of language development, audiology and assistive hearing technologies.
- Effective communicator, organised and solution‑focused.
- Experience of team leadership and commitment to inclusive education and partnership working.
- Additional skills in British Sign Language or willingness to learn.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: UPS up to 3, SEN Allowance, TLR2 (mid). 75% specialist teaching caseload. Benefits include staff discounts, pension scheme, immediate life cover, ill‑health protection, flexible working, hybrid working, family‑friendly initiatives and an annual leave package starting at 28 days plus public holidays.

Interviews will be held Friday 22nd May 2026. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, including a check of the relevant Barred List(s). Eligibility to work in the UK will be verified in the final stages of the selection process.
