About The Role
We’re looking for an Advanced Mental Health Professional to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on a permanent basis. The EDT is an out‑of‑hours service where you will work alongside colleagues on a rotating shift pattern including weekends and bank holidays, working closely with partner agencies.
As Part Of Our Team, You Will
- Be a qualified AMHP or willing to train as an AMHP. Provide a high‑quality response to emergency referrals out of normal working hours.
- Work a rotational shift pattern.
- Provide appropriate support and interventions to vulnerable adults, children and families to address safeguarding concerns.
- Provide out‑of‑hours advice and guidance to professionals, and produce factually accurate and reflective reports.
- Be the first point of contact for professionals, vulnerable adults, children, families, or members of the public who have a concern that cannot wait until normal office hours resume.
- Carry out thorough, high‑quality crisis‑led assessments for children and families, promptly identifying level of risk, need and services required to promote and ensure safe outcomes.
- Actively apply legal and professional knowledge and skills – balancing protection, risk and support to achieve positive outcomes for those requiring our service.
About The Candidate
We are looking for social workers who can work autonomously, manage competing demands, and work under pressure without on‑site support from their line manager. You will be confident in your decision‑making and risk‑assessment skills, and be able to provide advice, guidance and challenge to colleagues within Social Care and across agencies.

- Annual leave starting at 28‑33 days per year, with an extra entitlement of 8 days included within the rota.
- Good work‑life balance: you will work 13 night and 3 day shifts in an 8‑week period.
- Local Government contributory pension scheme with employer’s contribution.
