Driver/Attendant – 24 hours x 3 posts – 12 month fixed term contract
The Driver/Attendant ensures the safe transportation of vulnerable service users to and from schools, day centres, colleges and other establishments. The role requires the post holder to carry out the driver’s duties and at other times, the attendant duties.
About the role
- Drive a vehicle (minibus) and transport clients with varying needs, including learning disabilities, social, physical, mental health and/or medical conditions.
- Ensure all wheelchairs are safely secured and all safety equipment is in full working order.
- Report any incidents to the Assisted Travel Office.
- Ensure timely pick‑up and drop‑off of service users and liaise with the Assisted Travel office, service users, parents/carers, schools, colleges, day centres and other relevant establishments.
- Carry out daily vehicle and tyre safety checks and complete the vehicle logbook to ensure compliance with Wirral Council Policy and Procedures and national legislation.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy inside and out at all times.
- Be fully conversant with and respond to all health, safety & fire procedures.
