Community Cohesion Officer – 2-year fixed term contract
Do you want to help strengthen communities, build trust, and support safer neighbourhoods across Wirral? We’re looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and flexible individual to undertake an exciting new role within the Council's Community Safety Service to assist in the delivery of a new Community Cohesion Programme across Wirral.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Wirral’s Community Cohesion Programme by working with community groups, schools, housing providers, and statutory partners.
- Coordinate small‑grant programmes and support multi‑agency interventions.
- Gather insight and data to inform programme activities.
- Organise engagement events and facilitate partner collaboration.
- Address issues that may impact community harmony and support the response to hate crime.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
We’re looking for a motivated candidate who can build trust, stay calm under pressure, and communicate confidently with a wide range of people. The ideal candidate brings strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while working independently. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills are essential, especially when handling sensitive or challenging situations.
Experience in community engagement, partnership working, community safety, or grant administration is desirable but not essential. What matters most is enthusiasm, adaptability and a commitment to supporting stronger, safer communities.
A current driving licence is essential. The post requires Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance at the appropriate level and Non‑Police Personnel Level 2 (NPPV2F) clearance.
Interview scheduled for Friday 5th June. Eligibility to work in the UK will be verified during the selection process: candidates must either have the right to work in the UK before employment or meet Home Office criteria for Visa sponsorship.
