Wirral Council is recruiting Best Interests Assessors (BIAs) for the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) service within the Adult Social Care Directorate.
Role Summary
- Perform mental capacity assessments, best interests decisions and Care Act assessments, including Section 21A DoLS challenges.
- Support adults in the community and post‑hospital discharge.
- Work variably involves reviews, safeguarding, CHC and multidisciplinary collaboration with a strengths‑based, legally literate approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mental capacity and Care Act assessments.
- Make best interests decisions and authorise or reprieve DoLS orders.
- Manage complex cases and support multidisciplinary teams.
- Perform face‑to‑face visits across the Wirral region.
- Maintain accurate records and report outcomes.
Qualifications
- Qualified social worker, registered with Social Work England.
- BIAs qualification.
- Strong knowledge of Care Act, MCA/DoLS and safeguarding.
- Experience with complex cases, best interests and MDT working.
