Assistant Senior Manager
About The Role
As the Assistant Senior Manager for Wirral Councils Parks & Countryside Service you will ensure the efficient and effective management of the Service, including monitoring and contributing to the Parks & Countryside business plan, performance management, establishing and maintaining governance systems to ensure the service complies with all statutory and corporate requirements, and creating and implementation of development programmes for all staff and volunteers.
This is a key post for the service, as the post holder manages approximately 50% of all Parks & Countryside within Wirral, through 5 direct reports and a staff group of approximately 70 staff. This post is instrumental in delivering the Parks service and ensuring that Statutory and Regulatory requirements, including the Health & Safety of visitors to the estates, are met.
You will be responsible for the management (including compliance and HR functions) and development of parks and countryside sites, open spaces, coastal areas, trees, playgrounds, events and allotments throughout the designated areas and the grounds maintenance of other sites on behalf of clients in line with current service level agreements within the designated areas.
This role has a specific focus, in addition to those duties within the Job Description, leading on all issues relating to Allotments, Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI\’s), Local Wildlife Sites and in particular the North Wirral Coastline and Dee Estuary.
About The Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team and lead on the provision of a forward thinking and efficient Parks & Countryside Service. You will need to demonstrate experience of leadership, service development, and knowledge of operational delivery of a high performing Parks & Countryside Service, Wirral Council is rightly proud of its 35 Green Flag awards. In addition, the successful candidate will lead on all issues relating to Allotments, Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI\’s), Local Wildlife Sites and in particular the North Wirral Coastline and Dee Estuary.
You will be a resilient, tenacious, and an experienced parks professional who has experience working on and delivering projects that improve outcomes for both residents and the Council. You will have experience of managing and developing people to deliver exceptional services within either a local authority or private sector setting and a proven track record of managing and reporting service performance and financial management.
