About The Role

This is a great opportunity to play a hands‑on role in caring for Wirral’s parks and countryside, supporting both their day‑to‑day management and long‑term conservation. Based within the Wirral Country Park administrative area, you’ll work across sites including Wirral Country Park, Heswall Dales and the Hilbre Islands, helping to keep these spaces welcoming, safe and engaging for visitors. A key part of the role is taking a lead in the day‑to‑day running of the Visitor Centre at Thurstaston and the Sidings site, supporting school visits, events and activities. You’ll work closely with visiting schools, helping deliver field studies and outdoor learning linked to the National Curriculum, as well as supporting a varied programme of events throughout the year. Alongside this, you’ll carry out practical duties, engage with visitors and contribute to the overall experience of our parks and countryside.

Responsibilities

  • Support school visits, events and activities.
  • Deliver field studies and outdoor learning linked to the National Curriculum.

About The Candidate

  • Enjoys working outdoors and engaging with people, with the confidence to support school groups and deliver activities in a clear and engaging way.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, whether you’re leading a session, responding to enquiries or coordinating bookings.
  • Brings a practical, proactive approach and is comfortable balancing a mix of responsibilities, from hands‑on outdoor work to administrative tasks.
  • Has an interest in countryside management, conservation or outdoor learning.
  • Has a full driving licence and is willing to operate machinery and support the safe and effective running of our sites.
  • Shows enthusiasm, reliability and a genuine passion for helping people connect with the outdoors.
  • Available for full‑time work (36 hours, Monday to Friday including Bank Holidays) with flexibility to support busy periods and events.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Full driving licence.
  • Willingness to operate machinery and support the safe and effective running of our sites.
  • Experience in countryside management, conservation or outdoor learning desirable.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
