Wirral Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Compliance Team Leader to join our Asset Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a key compliance function and play a vital role in supporting the Council to operate lawfully, transparently and in line with regulatory and statutory requirements.

About the role:

As Compliance Team Leader, you will lead and manage a portfolio of corporate sites, supporting the Head of Facilities Management with all aspects of the corporate property upkeep, care, maintenance, Procurement, Contractor Management, Contract Management, Compliance, Value For Money, security, Health and Safety, and Facilities Management (Hard FM) in line with statutory and regulatory requirements. You will take a proactive approach to leadership and service improvement, supporting the delivery of Council priorities while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

About the candidate:

We are looking for a confident leader with strong health and safety knowledge, compliance knowledge and experience of working in a public sector or regulatory environment. You will be well organised, resilient and able to balance operational delivery with strategic thinking.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in a compliance including asbestos management, regulatory or governance role
  • Experience of leading or supervising staff
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to analyse information, manage risk and make sound decisions
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and customer-focused services
