GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Working hours: 40hrs/week
  • Working Location: Remote in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, or the European Union, or a hybrid option in our Berlin or Paris office.
  • Reports to: Director of Engineering

YOUR CHALLENGE AT WIRE

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the iOS and Android teams across the organization. Day-to-day product development happens within cross-functional feature teams (“Product Scopes”). In parallel, this role operates at the discipline level. A discipline represents a shared engineering group centered around a specific technical area, bringing together engineers working on the same technology across multiple Product Scopes. The iOS and Android disciplines are responsible for strengthening the foundations of our mobile apps by driving common standards, technical direction, and long-term initiatives. With dedicated resources for Discipline work, you will be leading concrete initiatives to improve the overall quality and reliability of our mobile apps, ensuring they can scale with the company’s growth by leveraging relevant technologies and practices to bring consistency and efficiency across the board.

Responsibilities

  • Owns career development, performance reviews, compensation, and coaching of your team members as their line manager.
  • Ensure engineers are supported, healthy, and growing in both skills and responsibilities.
  • Remain accountable for the overall quality, reliability, and evolution of iOS and Android platforms.
  • Maintain a clear technical vision and ensure consistency across the product.
  • Define and uphold platform standards, tooling, and best practices.
  • Partner with Mobile Staff Engineers to drive technical strategy, architectural evolution, and core improvements (e.g., testing frameworks, shared infrastructure, technical debt reduction).
  • Support long-term engineering initiatives that span multiple Scopes.
  • Own the release pipeline for the platform.
  • Work closely with the dedicated QAs to ensure all feature branches from Scopes are integrated, tested, and released with high quality.
  • Define, monitor, and improve Platform technical and operational KPIs.

YOUR PROFILE

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Engineering Management, leading high-performing teams and delivering impactful results.
  • 7+ years of proven expertise in designing, building, and scaling mobile applications, with deep knowledge of mobile development principles.
  • Demonstrated strength in People Management, with the ability to inspire a shared vision, drive team motivation, and lead organizational change.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, able to analyse complex issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Skilled in writing clear, well-documented procedures and expressing ideas confidently and effectively in English. French and German, or any additional language, is a plus.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in building secure applications and end-to-end encryption is a plus.
