Role Purpose

The Proofpoint SAT Engineer is responsible for implementing, administering, and optimizing the Proofpoint Security Awareness Training platform, ensuring continuous user education, advanced phishing simulation programs, behaviour analytics, and enterprise alignment with security awareness objectives. The role ensures measurable reduction in human centric cyber risk through scalable training, automation, and tight integration with email-security tools such as Proofpoint TAP/TRAP.

Responsibilities

• Platform Administration & Operations: Administer and maintain the Proofpoint Security Awareness Training (PSAT) platform, ensuring correct configuration, onboarding, user sync, and ongoing upkeep. Manage course assignments, learning pathways, and automated enrolment rules informed by Proofpoint Partner training flows. Integrate PSAT with user directories, identity systems, email gateways, and SIEM (where applicable).
• Phishing Simulation Program: Design, schedule, and execute phishing simulations (credential harvest, attachment based, link based, BEC themed, etc.). Analyze simulation metrics: click rates, reporting rates, credential submission attempts, repeat offenders. Produce risk-based targeted training plans based on simulation results.
• Security Awareness Content Management: Deploy Proofpoint provided awareness modules, videos, micro learning, and periodic refresher content. Customize content to meet organizational policy, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Track learner progress, completion rates, and performance improvements.
• Threat Intelligence Driven Awareness: Leverage intelligence to shape SAT campaigns based on real world phishing trends and align content to live threats targeting the organization (spoofing, ransomware lures, business email compromise).
• Reporting, Metrics & Analytics: Build dashboards on user risk scores, behavioural trends, training completion, and campaign outcomes. Provide monthly and quarterly reporting to Cybersecurity leadership, HR, and Compliance teams. Define KPIs such as: Phish prone percentage (PPP) reduction; Training completion compliance; Time to complete metrics; Campaign coverage & effectiveness.
• Continuous Improvement & Enablement: Recommend improvements to the security culture based on analytics and awareness gaps. Work closely with the Email Security team (Proofpoint TAP/TRAP admins) to ensure intelligence-driven SAT alignment. Provide workshops, awareness sessions, and targeted executive briefings.

Skills & Experience Required

• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Proofpoint SAT / PSAT platform administration (preferred). Knowledge of Proofpoint Email Security stack (Email Protection, TAP, TRAP). Experience running phishing simulation tools (Proofpoint, Cofense, KnowBe4, Microsoft Attack Simulation, etc.). Understanding of email authentication technologies (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). Familiarity with M365 / Exchange Online / Active Directory user integration.
• Cybersecurity & Awareness Skills: Strong understanding of human centric cyber risks, phishing vectors, social engineering, and awareness concepts. Ability to convert technical threats into easy to understand user education content.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication and presentation abilities. Ability to work with HR, Compliance, IT, SOC, and executive teams. Analytical mindset with ability to translate metrics into actions.
• Experience: 3-7 years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, email security, or user awareness programs. Prior exposure to Proofpoint investments and platforms is a plus. Experience supporting large scale enterprise security awareness programs.
• Certifications (Preferred): Proofpoint PSAT / TAP / TRAP certifications. CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or equivalent SANS Security Awareness certifications (SSAP).
