Coding / Programming Fundamentals |
Python is not mandatory. Experience in Java, C#, JavaScript, or another language is fine. Basically, a sound programming knowledge. Assess whether their programming logic is sound and they can understand, modify and validate code. |

AI-Assisted Coding |
Candidate can use Claude Code or another AI coding tool. Assess whether they can give the AI the right context, break the problem down, review generated code, debug it and validate the output rather than blindly accepting it. |

Data Structures & Logic |
Basic understanding of arrays/lists, maps/dictionaries, sets, queues/stacks, loops, conditions, functions and appropriate data structure selection. Focus more on application than textbook definitions. |

Technical Design |
Give them a problem and ask them to design the solution: components, APIs, data model, integrations, error handling, scalability and key trade-offs. |
|
End-to-End Project Expertise |
Deep dive into one product/project they personally helped build. Ask them to explain the journey from requirement → architecture → development → testing → deployment → monitoring/support. |
|
AI as an Engineering Harness |
Assess whether they can systematically use AI across the development lifecycle: understand → plan → generate → test → review → debug → refine. They should remain accountable for the final solution. |

Communication |
Can they explain their design, assumptions, decisions and trade-offs clearly, especially to someone who isn't deeply technical? |
