Main Purpose:
To Manage, Lead and Inspire the Assembly team through a drive for excellence and delivery of agreed objectives and KPI's.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance a proactive health, safety and environmental culture ensuring compliance with all company policies.
- Overall responsibility for all of Assembly with line management responsibility for a team of direct reports.
- Ensure best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
- Implement efficiency improvements using Kaizen activities, SMED activities and other tools.
- Coordinate team activities to optimise cost performance of the plant through recommendation of capital investment programmes, optimising operating working capital usage and minimising waste through the development of a continuous improvement culture encompassing lean principles and clear strategic development.
- Manage master production schedule and operations budgets for products to directly support and ensure that the product is delivered to agreed cost, quality and on time in full.
- Manage the accurate and on-time introduction of new products liaising with projects, tooling and engineering team to ensure smooth introduction to the business in line with deliverable deadlines.
- Support project management in cross functional activity required for project execution.
- Provide leadership to departments under control and coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
- Complete regular performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues and procedures as appropriate.
- Proactively work with Design and project management teams from Phase 0 ensuring the new work being brought in has DFA/DFM feedback from the initial RFQ stage.
- Ensure full compliance to all internal processes/procedures as well as all Industry-Recognised Accreditation Certificates.
Qualifications and Experience Levels:
- Broad knowledge and technical understanding of all aspects of Assembly.
- Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
- Whilst a formal education in an engineering or manufacturing related discipline might be expected, more critical is the candidate's ability to demonstrate their achievements in creating world class assembly facilities in their career to date.
