As part of our Sustainability and Civils teams, you’ll play a key role in embedding Net Zero principles, embodied carbon reduction, and sustainable construction practices across some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical civil engineering knowledge with the opportunity to learn latest industry sustainability processes and practices to deliver measurable carbon and environmental improvements.

Key Job Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate LCA and sustainability data collection across design and project teams in the Civil Engineering and Industrial sector.
  • Translate technical civil design drawings and procurement data to calculate embodied carbon and other sustainability reporting metrics.
  • Support in sustainability-related tender submissions for Civils and Infrastructure schemes.
  • Contribute to Winvic’s Net Zero and ESG reporting, ensuring robust and accurate data.
  • Support Net Zero strategy delivery by identifying carbon hotspots and opportunities for reduction through design and material selection.
  • Work closely with design, commercial and delivery teams to integrate low-carbon thinking into early-stage planning.
  • Collaborate with supply chain partners to improve carbon data quality and encourage sustainable material sourcing.
  • Stay up to date with standards and guidance from PAS 2080, UKGBC, RICS, ICE, and National Highways.
  • Support the development of sustainability case studies and initiatives across projects.
  • Act as a Sustainability Champion, influencing site teams to adopt greener practices.

Skills/Experience

  • Degree, equivalent qualification or experience in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • A genuine passion for sustainable design, low-carbon construction, and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG).
  • 1-2 years of practical experience of civil engineering principles and how they influence materials, methods, and embodied carbon.
  • Understanding of National Highways or local authority project frameworks is advantageous.
  • Desired experience in or awareness of Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and carbon accounting tools (e.g., OneClick LCA, PAS 2080).
  • Excellent analytical, critical-thinking and communication skills.
  • Desire to innovate and continuously improve — challenging traditional construction methods to find greener, smarter solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CAD, Revit, or BIM modelling is desirable.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to combine engineering and sustainability in a meaningful, future-focused role.
  • Exposure to major infrastructure and industrial projects where your ideas can directly reduce carbon and improve sustainability outcomes.
  • Ongoing professional development in Net Zero frameworks, carbon modelling, and sustainable construction techniques.
  • A collaborative, innovation-led culture that values continuous improvement.
