An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Sustainability Assistant to join our Sustainability team based at our Head Office in Northampton. Reporting to one of our Sustainability Managers, the role will support the needs of the team and perform a variety of functions in a fast-paced environment.
With a passion for sustainability, the successful candidate will support in the implementation and reporting of Net Zero and BREEAM Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCAs) whilst developing and maintaining excellent working relationships across a range of projects. Experience, Skills and Qualifications- A genuine passion for sustainable design, low-carbon construction, and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG).
- Administrative experience in the construction industry or relevant degree.
- Desire to innovate and continuously improve, with an interest in advancing low-carbon materials, modern construction methods, and reporting practices.
- BREEAM or WLCA knowledge is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, critical-thinking and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and work independently where required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with PDF editing software (i.e. Adobe/Bluebeam).
- Contribute to BREEAM MAT01 and MAT02 credits by supporting in the calculation and reporting of Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) from RIBA Stages 2-6.
- Comprehend BREEAM submission deadlines, evidence requirements and minimum standards for relevant carbon/sustainable procurement credits.
- Completion of wider administration tasks to support BREEAM and WLCA submissions.
- Run MAT 01 and RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCA) aligned carbon assessments in One Click LCA.
- Assist in the data collection for WLCAs and third-party verification while ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Support Net Zero strategy delivery by identifying carbon hotspots and opportunities for reduction through design and material selection.
- Providing brand support for Sustainability and Net Zero capability materials, presentations, and documents.
- Work closely with BREEAM assessors, design, commercial and delivery teams to integrate low-carbon thinking across practices and documentation.
- Stay up to date with standards and guidance from BRE, UKGBC, RICS and UKNZCBS.
- Act as a Sustainability Champion, influencing site teams to adopt greener practices.
