Our Client, a European Bank, is seeking a dedicated Risk Officer preferably with 5 years of experience in Enterprise-wide Risk Management within the banking sector. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise across Operational, Credit, IT, Cyber, and Liquidity risk disciplines, and an appetite to build a track record of supporting executive-level risk governance and contributing to a robust risk culture.
The role will require delivering accurate and timely MI for Risk committees - including Executive Risk Committee (ERC) and Board Risk Committee (BRC) - and maintaining alignment with the Bank’s Risk Appetite Statement. Responsibilities include building and enhancing risk management tools, models, and processes used across business divisions, ensuring that the Enterprise Risk Management Framework remains effective, transparent, and compliant with evolving regulatory expectations.
The holder will need to build a strong understanding of PRA/FCA regulations, statutory and regulatory codes of practice, and the end-to-end risk management cycle. Competency in overseeing stress testing, managing the Bank’s risk registers, embedding RCSAs, and overseeing the implementation of policies for Operational Risk, IT & Cyber Risk, and Liquidity Risk is essential.
The job holder will act with integrity, diligence, and accountability while maintaining high standards of conduct. Skills required include:
- Communication: Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration, enabling successful delivery of critical risk insights and timely escalation of issues when required.
- Attention to Detail & Quality Assurance: Ensures accuracy in risk reporting, internal models, and compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Effective Communication: Prepares clear, concise risk packs for senior committees and advises on regulatory changes.
- Proactive Risk Leadership: Drives embedding of risk culture, promotes strong governance, and ensures timely escalation of issues.
- Innovation Orientation: Continuously seeks to enhance tools, processes, and methodologies that strengthen risk oversight.
- Ethical & Compliant: Upholds FCA conduct rules (COCON), Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) outcomes, and financial crime prevention standards.
