Our Client is currently searching for a Head of Sales for their Credit Department. Details below:
- Areas of Responsibilities
- To originate credit opportunities, primarily in property debt finance (buy-to-let and development finance) through own network and market outreach.
This will involve sourcing new BTL lending opportunities through brokers, property developers, introducers, and direct client relationships using own network and through wider market outreach and contribute to the growth of the Bank’s credit portfolio.
- To evaluate borrower requirements and propose suitable lending solutions in line with Bank policies.
- To structure and originate real estate finance transactions from sourcing to disbursement.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of professional landlords, SPVs, LLPs, and property-investment clients investing in UK residential property.
- To develop and maintain relationships with real estate brokers, institutional funders, and property investors.
- Conduct client meetings to understand investment goals, rental yield expectations, and financing needs.
- To ensure adherence to KYC, AML, and all regulatory requirements related to lending.
- Collect and verify all documents required for BTL underwriting (income proofs, tenancy agreements, property valuations, rental projections, portfolio master and overall leverage of the prospective borrower).
- Conduct initial deal screening, including borrower profile, rental yield, LTV, DSCR, and asset quality.
- Conduct preliminary affordability and rental coverage assessments in line with Bank’s internal loan policy and UK PRA BTL affordability rules.
- Prepare indicative term sheets and negotiate commercial terms within bank policy.
- Manage a portfolio of professional landlords, SPVs, LLPs, and property-investment clients from both residential and commercial real estate segment, depending on the bank’s focus from time to time.
- Liaise with valuers, solicitors and brokers to ensure smooth processing and faster conversion of leads.
- To coordinate with internal teams (Credit Risk, Compliance, Legal) for timely approvals and disbursements
- Description of Duties
- Work closely with Credit Department team, Branch Team and Compliance & risk teams for smooth onboarding of clients.
- Drive growth of the Bank’s real estate credit portfolio through proactive lead generation, market outreach, and strong pipeline management.
- Build and leverage relationships with brokers, developers, and institutional clients to originate high-quality lending opportunities, including portfolio deals.
- Achieve assigned business targets by structuring and closing credit transactions in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Conduct preliminary financial and commercial assessments to ensure viability and alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Lead deal execution, including preparation of proposals, liaison with credit teams, and timely conversion of opportunities into disbursements.
Skills and Experience
- High level of integrity and compliance orientation.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in finance / credit origination.
- Knowledge of FCA and PRA regulatory frameworks.
- Strong understanding of UK Buy-to-Let mortgage (unregulated) market, including Rental stress tests, ICR (Interest Coverage Ratio), Portfolio landlord rules and Property valuation processes.
- Strong analytical ability for credit assessment.
- Familiarity with UK property market trends and NRI investment patterns.
- Strong network with real estate brokers, institutional funders, and property investors. Ability to work with brokers and intermediaries.
- Proven track record in generating credit leads and growing loan portfolios.
- Strong understanding of property finance, lending structures, and UK market.
- Proficiency in financial modelling and credit analysis.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Profile Requirement
- Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in corporate credit and credit sales, with strong exposure to sourcing and managing high-value credit relationships.
Proven track record in handling medium to large corporate clients, including credit appraisal, structuring, and end‑to‑end deal execution.
- Experience in leading sales teams, driving business growth, and achieving credit portfolio targets is essential.
Qualifications
- Graduate (any discipline) from a government‑recognized University or Institution and/or MBA (Finance) / PGDBA / PGDBM / CA / CFA / ICWA.
