The post would be ideally suited to applicants who feel a sense of responsibility for today's young people and who are able to work flexible daytime hours during exam periods. Exams Invigilators need to be reliable and punctual, organised, have the ability to relate to candidates yet maintain an air of authority, be empathetic towards our students, be able to follow instructions, be confident to give instructions and have the ability to work as part of a team or alone. Often unexpected situations arise during exams so a calm and flexible approach and ability to switch priorities is essential.
Previous experience in working with secondary school age children and young people would be an advantage, as would any previous supervisory experience. However, experience of invigilation is not required as full training in the role will be provided.
Candidates will be employed on a casual basis, with hours and days of work subject to the timings of each exam. The preparation for exams can start at the beginning of the academy day and on occasions exams can continue after the academy day has finished. Casual Exams Invigilators can choose to work mornings, afternoons or both. All Exams Invigilators are contacted prior to the exam period to identify individual availability in relation to the examination timetable. A committed approach to the allocated dates and times is vital.
