Position summary
You will work closely with the Business Acceptance team on the identification, substantive analysis and resolution of ethical and commercial conflicts, and the regulatory compliance matters that sit alongside them.
You will own the full conflicts search process—assessing and resolving conflicts issues and drafting and reviewing the supporting documentation that underpins it—working in accordance with the firm's Conflicts Policy, US requirements, and SRA regulation. Hands‑on, precise, and consequential from day one.
Position responsibilities
- Act as a key liaison between U.K. partners and the U.S. Conflicts team, supporting the resolution of conflicts under ABA rules and clearly explaining regulatory requirements where needed.
- Conduct substantive analysis of conflicts search results in line with ethical rules and firm policies, proposing clear and pragmatic resolutions.
- Review both standard and non standard engagement letters and draft conflict waivers and consents as required.
- Identify when ethical walls are required, prepare supporting documentation and elevate matters appropriately.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent qualification with strong academic performance.
- Proven experience handling ABA conflicts within a corporate or professional services environment.
- A strong working knowledge of applying both ABA and SRA professional conduct rules.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Confidence exercising sound judgement and making well reasoned decisions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage complex matters accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
